You may have seen the short version, but again, what is Brazen?

Brazen is an idea Frank and Mike had been cooking for a little while and that got started early Fall 2009. The two heads met about a year and a half ago and both realized that they shared similar thoughts about the Web, programming, technology, their professional field and most things related. They also realized that in areas where they differed, it was complementary rather than concurrently and it gave them a broader perspective, that could be leveraged to let emerge greater solutions.

Brazen defines itself as a workshop, a lab of sort. Like most web meme, the word lab is often abused. We don’t care as much about the name tag as we do about the idea, because it is a central part of our little enterprise’s identity.

Developers are often thought of as machines that input coffee and output code (note to self, we need a coffee machine). First and foremost, they’re curious individuals, intrigued by technology. Brazen was founded around the inherent idea that artistry and exploration should not be confined to texture, shapes and colors, there can be beauty and finesse in logic. We wanted a place where developers are encouraged to nurture their skills, venture in new areas, experiment with fresh ideas. We feel that this is the best path toward growth and excellence. We’ve all seen the motivational posters, “try, fail, learn…” and all that. Well, at Brazen we want developers to fail, then dust it off and try again. It certainly isn’t by chance that the words expert and experiment have the same root.

However, as fun as experimenting can be, expertise needs to serve a purpose. Brazen also has the vocation to lend its talents to interesting projects in need of professional assistance. We like to think anything is possible, though we’re aware there’s work involved. The word brazen embodies the attitude we want to have in the face of adversity, having it as a name will serve as a reminder whenever the easy way out seems tempting.
